Trillick Post Office

Trillick PO

PJ and Peter Kelly close the door on the Post Office

It’s real end-of-an-era time on Main Street as Kellys of the Post Office close the doors on the Post Office. Under the Kellys’ superb management, the Post Office has been a hub of village life for nearly half a century.  The welcome news however is that the Post Office is just re-locating, up the street to Malachy & Bernie’s NISA store.  Further, given that the re-located facility will have broadly the same opening hours as NISA, it means that we will have access to Post Office services outside traditional Post Office opening hours.

Thanks to the Kellys for 50 years of sterling service and best of luck to Malachy and Bernie in their new venture.

Trillick man in New Year honours list

Well-known Trillick businessman, Gilbert Tunney, features in the New Year honours list:

Gilbert Joseph Tunney. For services to the Motor Industry and the community of Trillick County Tyrone and Enniskillen, County Fermanagh

Gilbert is these days perhaps better-known for his flourishing Enniskillen-based business, GT Exhausts, but older locals will have clear memories of ‘Tunney’s Garage’.  Based where the surgery etc. now stands, it too was a very successful enterprise and for many years held numerous top motor franchises and was a place where you could be sure of excellent service, delivered with Gilbert’s trademark banter and hospitality.

Well done Gilbert!
